The Annual Rock River Valley Painters Guild Plein Air Exhibit features 34 works by 13 northern Illinois artists, on display Sept. 2-Oct. 31 at CMAAA in Oregon.

The Coliseum Museum of Art, Antiques & Americana (CMAAA) in Oregon presents the Annual Rock River Valley Painters Guild Plein Air Exhibit, on display Sept. 2-Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during gallery hours Wednesdays through Saturdays.
The exhibition features 34 works by 13 artists from across northern Illinois, with pieces created in acrylic, mixed media, oil, pastel and watercolor. Participating artists include Carol Bingham, Pam Bradford, Dick Cholke, Janice Conkrite, Charles Gregory, Anne Hilliard, Tom Linden, Nancie King Mertz, Sharon Saponari, Donna Smith, Terry Werntz, Lucinda Winterfield and Leah Zahn.
Plein air painting takes artists out of the studio to capture landscapes and other subjects directly from life. The practice encourages artists to respond to changing light, color and atmosphere while working outdoors.
An awards reception will be held Oct. 9, with awards presented by judge Jean Apgar and live music by Grass Attack.
The Rock River Valley Painters Guild is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting local art and art education throughout north-central Illinois.
