There's a hometown feeling here that you don't find everywhere anymore. We needed cash or check to buy our meal. It did get busy after a while so you may need to arrive early or be prepared to wait for your table, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Pro tip: Bring cash or check as they don't take cards! Next, stroll the Saturday morning farmers market right around the corner from the cafe. With a wide variety of vendors to select from with fruits, veggies, artisans, and more, you're sure to find something to take home! We especially loved the live music that morning and the atmosphere it created while the kids played on the lawn nearby. Pro tip: Bring a couple of $1s to tip the musician! Stroll the shops and town of Mt Carroll! There are some expertly curated stores and selections to bring home with you. Pine Chrome was a particular favorite for us with a very upscale and refined feel to their offerings. You'll find a variety from artistic expression and vintage to crafts and candles.
