Oregon

Oregon is Ogle County’s seat, its downtown built right along a bend in the Rock River. The Eternal Indian, Lorado Taft’s 48-foot Black Hawk statue, keeps watch from the bluff at Lowden State Park, and the sandstone cliffs of Castle Rock State Park rise from the river just south of town, both left over from Oregon’s turn-of-the-century run as an art colony.
